Yes, my friend. "We live and we live and we live."

While we can.

You distil the essence from your day, and you share it generously.

As always.

Keep living and loving and shedding the light you generate; this world needs it.

Love from us

D & M :)

Thank you, Dave, for being here to receive the distilled essence! Like you, I wondered whether this one was worth publishing. I was rushed and distracted throughout the writing of it (my sweet girl is home for the summer), but I decided to just put it all in there. It means so much that it landed for you in particular. :)

Dear lovely Kendall, thank you for casting your misty spell. I didn't want this piece to end because misty spells are like that. ... slow, slow exhale....

xo

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Breathe out…. thank you, dear Andrea, that means the world! Always so happy to see you here.

Deeply moved by this, Kendall. Your writing is exquisite, poetic... and the heart that writes this is vast as the New Mexico sky under which I live.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

What a kindness this is, Maia. I grew up under a vast sky above the Sonoran Desert, so I feel this in my bones. Thank you.

Kendall, you are a master weaver. Of words. Of stories. Of life.

I read this when I woke up this morning, with my 18 year old cat lying in my arms, the same cat who I rescued from a barn with her mama and litter mates after they had been dumped at the side of a highway. She looked much like your one-eyed beauty, and she and her mama had so much gratitude and love to share, shedding the perils of their start and embracing the love in their present.

How these stories of survival shape our ability to live 💗.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Eighteen years with you! What a lucky cat, Sabrina. What a gift to be given a new life with someone so caring and open-hearted. These stories really do shape us, don’t they? Thank you for being here, and for waking up with my words. xoxo

Kendall, I loved this. Your writing is always so evocative. I love the crusty characters. The image of the old woman with the pocket knife shaking hands with your daughter whose hands were still early in the weathering process made me chuckle. Early stages of the crusting process. I loved that you kept coming back to the company we keep being more important than our rough starts. Love is big medicine. So are role models. Thank you for your writing.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Thank you for telling me what you loved and what made you laugh, dear Jane! That’s such a gift, truly. Love and role models really are big medicine, aren’t they? And if we’re paying attention, they' show up in such unexpected ways.

A lyrical, lovely read. Thank you for stepping through life with your senses fully attuned, and making meaning wherever you go.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Thank you, Ashley. Meaning making and fully attuned living are what I’m trying (though often failing) to do, so this means the world.

It was so beautiful and inspiring, Kendal.

Thank you for this moment of reading , both so sweet and so powerful.

Thank you so much, Veronique!

Kendall, you had me at a hundred horses, my heart captured until the very last word while wishing it wouldn't end. And as you taught us in your Bare HEARTS, it doesn't have to. Deeply notice, full-being observe the world around you. It is always there waiting for your best attention and care. We may not find your gorgeous way of stringing together the words, but we can hold the emotions, cup them tenderly in our memory. Brilliant. What a gift you are. xo Ps I found a little thing once scared and cold on Brooklyn streets. She was blind, had eyes the color of the Indian Ocean. We held her til she felt safe and gave her a love-filled life.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Of course you found a scared little thing— I have no doubt that you were meant to. Thank you for being here, Danni. This fully awake life can break your heart, but it can also mend it. It’s my deep honor to write something that you hold and cup tenderly in your memory. You are a gift as well, my friend.

This all means so much. Lots of scared, hurt things (beings) have been finding my husband and I lately. So heartbreaking and also so mending. It fixes our perspective. We see the power of supporting one another from a higher view. Love you, truly.

Kendall, I'm back for another comment, because this is something new and quite extraordinary!!!! Last night I dreamed of your piece, not your exact story, not even the dialogue, but rather the characters, their aura – and the aura surrounding the entire piece. I woke up, and said to myself, "OMG, I dreamed inside the interior of Kendall's story, I can't wait to tell her." Because this is too cool and never happened to me before. Hee hee and OMG!!! xoxo

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Andrea, this is amazing!! I feel like this a whole new genre of dreaming!

Andrea Fisher's avatar

I know! I’m also thinking- because this is how I think, it could be something mystical… since we are all connected, creatures big and small. Whatever it is - omg!! Hee hee

Kendall Lamb's avatar

I fully embrace this as a magical/mystical mystery. I'm here for it!

How lovely, a chain of moments that reveal their connection a glimmer at a time.

Thank you, Rona!

This piece exhaled oxygen into me. Fortifying, steadying, life-giving oxygen, as I wrestle with a loved one’s decision to turn away from life soon. To not survive anymore. Is the release as important as the grip, two sides of the same loving? I don’t know. Expect a phone call dear friend. I may need your wisdom. ❤️

Kendall Lamb's avatar

"Is the release as important as the grip, two sides of the same loving?" I also don't know, dear friend, the difference between defeat and surrender. But I'm feeling this pain with you. Please call anytime. 💙

Holly Starley's avatar

This one brought tears, Kendall. May we all find strength in the company we keep and the ability to keep thriving no matter what.

Kendall Lamb's avatar

I'm honored, my friend. Here, here. 💙

😭😭😭 Kendall!!! I don’t have words. But I’ll give you the biggest hug next time I see you, friend!! Be ready for some wild woman running toward you to embrace the sh*t out of you!! I love you! ❤️❤️❤️

Kendall Lamb's avatar

I love you!!! And there’s nothing better than a wild woman embracing the shit out of me!!

🤣🤣 I couldn’t agree more!!

“Perhaps this is how we move forward— we bow to the close calls, and we stand up straight and spread our arms towards the sky and we live and we live and we live.”

— brilliant, Kendall. Uplifting while still being down to earth :)

Kendall Lamb's avatar

Thank you, Michael. This is a good thing to strive for, I think— the down-to-earth upliftingness of it all. I always love seeing you here, friend!
